November 2nd was a special day for Resident Mary Morrow who ‘youthfully’ turned 100 years old. While many would dread turning 100, Mary was enjoying her special day and all the birthday events planned to celebrate her life for the next several days.
Blessed with a loving family, Mary has been enjoying visits from her five daughters- Mary, Terri, Sue and Gloria who live out of state and also with Connie who resides in Indianapolis. Celebrations will continue for several days with a special Mass in her honor at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel on November 4th followed by a gala birthday party after. On November 9th the Little Sisters and Residents will be having their own celebration for Mary in Lanagan Hall with a very special birthday party.
Our St Augustine Guild President, Debbie Simmons, invited the ‘Birthday Girl’ to pick out any item from their awesome Christmas Bazaar as their gift to her. Debbie accompanied Mary as she toured Lanagan Hall on her scooter looking over all of the beautiful items for sale. Debbie noted that several of the special gifts were made by Mary throughout the year. To Debbie’s surprise, Mary selected a lovely red and white cross stitched pillow that Debbie made for the Bazaar.
While several people were talking about Mary’s 100th birthday, most commented, “I really don’t want to live to be 100, UNLESS I could be like Mary Morrow!” God bless her!!!!
