St Louis de Montfort School Walk-a-thon
On October 14, four Little Sisters were up for a new adventure – St Louis de Montfort School Walk-a-thon with the students! St. Augustine Home was a recipient of this year’s fundraising efforts of the school and the theme was centered on one of the words of St Jeanne Jugan.
To arrive in time for the 8 a.m. Mass that day in the school, the Little Sisters had to leave the Home early enough to be the first ones in the church wanting to meet and greet the students as they arrive. After the Mass, one of the Little Sisters gave a short presentation about St. Jeanne Jugan around the theme chosen for the event “Be a beautiful Rose of Charity.”
The students from preschool to 5th grade were reminded that as they take part on the walk-a-thon, always remember to think and pray for those they know who cannot walk, that is what being a ‘beautiful rose of charity’ is all about – praying for others! The school principal addressed the students after the Mass but prior to leaving the church to assemble outside. As the walk was about the start, the school’s mascot “the Cardinal” appeared to cheer for the students!
The Sisters met and walked with the students around the school ground. Before leaving, the students were all asking to have photos with the Sisters! What more could we share to mark the event but through few photo snapshots to capture the morning event!
