Bingo has managed to remain a beloved game for generations. This is true for the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Augustine Home, Indianapolis!
We hosted our annual Bingo night on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Willows in Indianapolis. This featured our hot meal, cash bar, door prize and give away-s. Then we started our Bingo games, pull tabs, raffles and 50/50 raffle. This year, the Little Sisters of the Poor, to the delight of the crowd, called the Bingo numbers during the games.
There is more to our Bingo fund-raiser than initially meets the eye. This highly social event gives our Bingo players time to meet new friends and gather with the Sisters in a relaxed and fun environment. Parents, grandparents, family members and neighbors all came out to spend time together sharing a meal, laughter, smiles and playing a game the whole community can enjoy. People from all our neighboring communities and some from much further away, join together on this night to chat and share the two things they all have in common – a love for Bingo and a love for supporting the Little Sisters of the Poor in their mission.
One such example is Mr. John Freeland, who came with a table of family and friends to share the night of fun. John won the 50/50 raffle! His love for the Little Sisters of the Poor and our mission to care for the needy elderly at the St. Augustine Home shined through when, as he was announced the winner, he turned and gave the winning ticket to one of the Sisters and said, “Here Sister, this is for you.” This brought all the Little Sisters to their feet, surrounding John with smiles and thanks as the Bingo crowd cheered and clapped their approval.
We are already looking forward to our 2021 Bingo event so we can, once again, spend time with our good friends and neighbors in fellowship, laughter and love.
