October 20, 2012: Hawaiian Luau’s Early Risers

  • October 20, 2012

Jim Weaver and crew got a very early start, setting up the fire pit on the Lanagan Patio before dawn so the succulent roast pig would be ready in time for the Luau feast for Residents. The dull outside world was a sharp contrast to the bright colors and bright expressions inside Lanagan Hall.

Hawaiian Breeze had the crowd matching their hula moves. A delicious dinner was served by the Sisters and Monsignor Duncan, with employees and volunteers taking orders and delivering all-you-can-eat plates to the Residents. Sr. Rosana added special carving to the perfectly ripened pineapple; although it was a difficult decision to transform the work into a side dish. (But not too difficult.)

Thank you to Jim and Verlee Weaver and our Activities Department for making this annual feast a pleasing memory.
