Mother Provincial Loraine Marie Clare chose to share her feast day with the Sisters, Residents, and Employees of St. Augustine Home. Mother’s feast day is August 5, commemorating Our Lady of the Snows. Communities throughout the Province interpreted a metaphor of building a bridge together: “Love is the bridge that unites and reconciles humanity to God. Our witness of Gospel simplicity is a powerful means to help build this bridge.” The Communities’ creations were brought together as a single, handsome wall hanging. The Mass service was described as “moving”, “beautiful”, and “wonderfully spiritual.” Music, prayers, and sermon paid tribute to Mary and all were a praise offering to God. The final hymn, “Making All Things New” was presented in parts by the choir and accompanied by organ, flute, bells, tambourines, and held block instruments, all combining to great and joyful praise of God.
Following Mass and a special lunch at which Mother Provincial gave each Resident and employee a candy treat, staff, Residents, benefactors, Guild members and Volunteers took part in a lively talent show uncovering more talent than we realized we had ourselves. It was a joy-filled and busy day, and one we are grateful to have shared with Mother Provincial Loraine.
