The last few days of August are always busy, uplifting, and fun. August 29 is St. Augustine Feast Day, on which we celebrated Residents’ Day. This year, the Residents partied in Lanagan Hall and selected prizes from a long table of choices.
Archbishop Charles Thompson, who was ordained as the seventh Archbishop of Indianapolis on July 28, 2017 at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Indianapolis, offered the Mass of the Feast Day of St. Jeanne Jugan on August 30 here at our chapel. The Archbishop shared some humorous stories from his own life and ministry, and presided over a beautiful Eucharistic liturgy and moving homily about Foundress Jeanne Jugan.
The Archbishop had a meeting shortly after his time with St. Augustine, but he graciously and warmly took the time to meet our Sisters, our Residents, Guild members and Volunteers, staff, and visitors who had driven in from Kokomo and points all around the Circle City. It was a beautiful experience of sharing this special feast day with him and welcoming him into our home and our hearts.
