Thanks once again to the multi-generational Weaver Family for being the brains and the creativity behind the annual Chicken Race!
From year to year, the portable track becomes more refined. This year, the bright yellow paint made the venue far flashier than it has been in years gone by. And Residents who were raised on farms as well as those who were not enjoy meeting the chickens and holding them up close and personal.
The chicken peeps remain young and spry. Well, those who realize they can run become spry. Others stand still and look around in a daze, despite the cheers of their sponsoring race fans who have their reputations riding on the outcome.
Speaking of young and spry, the Weaver boys are becoming taller and faster themselves, which was especially important this year in capturing one fast errant chicken who made a break from the track.
Spectators – including Residents, Sisters, volunteers, amazed visitors, and employees – kept up a cheer during each of the six heats of the race until the final run off of the six winners.
And once again, the separate event of Chicken Bingo kept spectators on the edges of their seats.
Thank you Weavers!
