July 12, 2013: Glorious Day for Swing Fore Seniors

  • July 12, 2013

With weather Torrey Pines would envy, the Little Sisters 15th Annual Golf Tournament got off to a shotgun start at noon as 46 foursomes hit the course. Prior to lunch, golfers could take their chances on the putting green with Indianapolis Colts announcer Mike Jansen and Jersey Johnny Cimasko of 1070 and 107.5 FM the Fan handling the play-by-play as they attempted to win $20 or $100 by successfully sinking a putt.

Chair Larry Kaelin organized teams to handle every detail of the Ironwood Golf Course at Fishers, including mobile beverage carts and cart transportation from the far ends of the parking lot to the golf cart area. The Tournament organizing team includes Larry Kaelin, John Cimasko, Mike Ganey, Andrew Kaelin, Colleen Kaelin, Lauren Kaelin Kriner, Joe Matz, Nancy Molitor, Tim Murray, and Mike Wagner.

Little Sisters of the Poor fanned out from the putting green throughout the course to encourage the players – and offer a chance to mark a birdie on their score sheets.

We couldn’t put the Tournament on without our long-term corporate sponsors, including Blakley’s, Collina Ventures, LLC, St. Vincent Health, and Zink Distributing Company. This year we welcome new sponsor Lockhart Cadillac which also provided three hole-in-one prizes: two Cadillac ATS models and a $10,000 prize. Thank you, too, to Vince and Robyn Caponi, First Merchants, Friends of the Little Sisters, Indianapolis Fruit/Piazza Produce, Lake City Bank, Process Controls, Union Savings Bank, and Dr. and Mrs. Michael Welsh, and the many hole sponsors, prize donors, volunteers, and benefactors who contributed materially and spiritually to the success of this event. We will certainly be praying for these generous sponsors in gratitude.

After 18 holes of golf, the players were ready for the delicious meal catered by Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, the silent and spoken auctions, and to hear the names of golfers who distinguished themselves during the day. These golfers include:
