Dear Family Members and Friends,
As we enjoy the Memorial Holiday weekend, let’s give thanks for another week of no new positive cases of COVID-19 among our Residents! While we cannot have the Home’s usual festivities for Memorial Day, we will still celebrate and make it an enjoyable and memorable day for all!
In last week’s letter we mentioned that the employees who had taken care of the Residents afflicted by the virus went through the process of being tested for COVID and were waiting for their results. We are pleased to inform you that aside from the one staff member we already reported last week, everyone else who has received their results has tested negative. Thank you all for your prayers! Please pray for those who are still waiting for results.
As a consequence of one employee testing positive last week, we need to reinstate the droplet isolation precautions for a few of our Residents. While the Residents are experiencing “quarantine fatigue,” we must carry out the guidelines and protocols put into place by ISDH, CDC, and federal and state government bodies set forth for long-term facilities. Because the risks will be extremely high if COVID-19 gets into the building again, it is essential for us to keep strict limitations on what is carried out within the Home.
Finally, staff continue to meet daily through video chats to discuss the health of St. Augustine’s Residents. We appreciate all your patience and understanding during this unusual time in our lives and history. As always, please pray for the health and safety of the Home, as well as the continued efforts of our doctors and scientists working on a cure/treatment of this virus. Be safe and stay well!
