Again I have the happiness of sharing with you the good news that we have no new cases of Covid among our Residents and staff. The Residents who were quarantined in the Assisted Living wing are now Covid-free as well.
Despite this good news we move forward cautiously due to the increasing number of new cases in Marion County and throughout Indiana, as well as the continuing threat of exposure by persons not wearing face masks in public. These two phenomena put our Residents and staff at greater risk. As you know, it only takes one person to bring Covid into the home. We ask you to please join us in this effort to protect our seniors by encouraging regular hand washing, social distancing and the use of facemasks.
Our Patriotic parade this past Friday was a great success! It brought tears to our eyes to see the Residents so happy to see their families parading past them in beautifully decorated cars and other vehicles! All be it from a distance, one could certainly feel the love between our Residents and the families who entertained them. Thank you for bringing that spark of joy into their lives!
I don’t want to pass up the opportunity to say thank you to all of our friends, families, volunteers, AJJ, Guild, and benefactors for all you have done and continue to do to support us through these challenging days. Needed items such as snacks, drinks, paper products, etc. have been dropped off at our front door regularly to help us during these days. Every little bit counts and we are so appreciative of the time and effort you take from your busy lives to assist us to provide our residents with the little things that make a difference.
We are looking forward to July 17 when we hope to open our doors for indoor visitation. Following the guidance of Indiana State Health Department, we will have four (4) hours of scheduled indoor visitation per day. While we will not be able to open the Home completely, we hope to convert Lanagan Hall into a large coffee shop/visiting area. This is a perfect area to allow for six feet of social distancing during the visits. I hope to share more details regarding the visitation in my letter next week.
Please do not hesitate to call if we can assist you with your concerns. Together we will meet this challenge. We miss you all and are looking forward to the day when we can meet again.
