Dear Family Members and Friends:

“God has blessed me because I have always greatly thanked his Providence.” On Thanksgiving day these words of our Mother Foundress, St Jeanne Jugan, resounded in our hearts as we gave thanks for the many blessings received during the year. We are most grateful for the continuous help and support that we receive from our friends and benefactors, staff, family members, volunteers and Associates. It is through people like you that our Lord manifests His providential love and care for all of us here at St Augustine’s Home. His guidance and protection on us are very evident, thanks to all of you!

In this season of gratitude, we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize our devoted staff, who, after so many months, are determined to keep the Residents safe through vigilant practice of the 3-W's: washing hands, watching social distancing and wearing face masks/shields, as inconvenient as they may be. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our staff for their compassion and perseverance!

As we browsed through the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) website last week, we were very encouraged by the considerable decline on the positivity rate of COVID cases in the state of Indiana. We are hoping that this decline will continue as we head towards the Christmas season. In the meantime, we need to remain vigilant and maintain our adherence to the guidelines given us by ISDH.

Last week one of our direct care staff members tested positive for COVID. Consequently, the Residents in one of the nursing units are being closely monitored for symptoms and will be tested a second time for the virus during the 14-day quarantine period. So far, Residents have tested negative.

Yesterday, we started a new liturgical year in the Church – the season of ADVENT. May your hearts be filled with joy, peace and hope as we anticipate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord! Have a blessed Advent!
